Vasque Velocity Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Brand : Vasque
Item : VSQ0005

The Vasque Velocity is a state-of-the-art trail runner, and it's got proof: Outside Magazine recognized it as the 2003 Trail Runner of the Year. Built for motion control on rugged terrain, the Velocity provides rock-solid stability in any condition. An aggressively-lugged Vasque Mako outsole offers superb traction, while the dual-density EVA midsole, which is stiffer in the medial and postal regions of the foot, reduces pronation and collapsing. Vasque includes a nylon plate that extends from the forefoot to the arch, providing a comfortable flex with incredible torsional rigidity. TPU-reinforced Airmesh offers support and prevents the synthetic leather upper from stretching out over time. Further support is provided by lacing that extends near to the toe for a high-performance, precision fit. A burly toe rand protects those tender toes from rocks, roots, and other obstacles in the trail.

Vasque Velocity Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Flat not Fast
When I first started running on these shoes, mainly 4x4 trails in the hills near my house, I found these shoes to be flat and clunky compared to my trusty Nike Zoom Steens. Sure they did the job but the sole did not have enough rocker to allow me to really turn up the pace. Then I took them on a run in the Ruby Mountains and realized what these shoes were designed for. Trail running on technical steep terrain. They have great lateral support, enough cushioning to protect from sharp objects and plenty of traction. If you love to run on these type of trails I highly recommend them, just don't ask these shoes to turn out 7 min. miles.

Vasque Velocity
Really love these shoes for padding and traction. Excellent for long steep trail runs or even Fastpacking. The footbed is contoured for a tight fit. Toe box is a bit small so watch the toenails. My biggest issue is the stitching on the outside (near little toe). It consistantly comes loose and then tearing occurs in the material. I run an average of 400-500 miles on a pair of trail shoes. I am having a hard time getting that mileage out of the uppers on these shoes. Meanwhile, the soles wear like boots. No problem there. Regardless, I'd still buy them for their support and traction.

Great shoes, need better outsole
I have had these shoes for about six months. They are breathable, light, and comfortable. Much lighter and airy than the Teva Elden Trail I used to run in. I normally run paved trails with these trail shoes (as terrible as that sounds) because trail shoes seem to support my ankles and knees much better than any road shoes have. These shoes have been great. The only complaint I have is the heel strike on the outsole is very soft rubber, and is wearing away very fast. Most likely from road versus trail use, but it would be nice if it lasted longer. Overall the best running shoes I've used. Well worth the cost.

Ultra Shoe!!!
I'm currently in my fourth pair of Velocity's and swear by them. I have done numerous 100 Ultras and yet to get a blister. These are by far the best trail shoe I have ever owned. They wrap the foot so nice and cushy and seem to last forever!

Great Shoes
These are great shoes. After trying many brands of shoes and boots, I found that Vasque size 13 shoes and boots fit me perfectly with virtually no break-in period. Because of this, I buy nothing but Vasque shoes and boots.
