The North Face Crestone 75 Backpack - 4600-4900 cu in
Solid Mid-Size Pack
I really enjoy this pack for its quality and efficiency. It is a good size, but not too big. I was able to pack about 2 weeks worth of clothing and essentials for travel without a problem. I am sure if you were to pack it to max capacity you could get 2.5-3 weeks out of it. The pack rests comfortably on my back. Though the front tightening straps can be annoying at times because they stretch so long, but that can be fixed if you tuck them into something. I use this pack primarily for traveling, not so much for backpacking. If you were interested in buying this pack for 1+ week backpacking trips, you may want to get something bigger. Overall, excellent quality and design, and comfortable as hell
Great Recreational
I filled it with 50+lbs and made several nine-day ventures throughout the Trinity Alps last summer. Overall it is a great pack with lots of space and was moderately comfortable through long hikes. If you aren't going to carry tons of heavy gear then it would be perfect, otherwise something made for long excursions would be better.
Crestone 75 Pack
I purchased this pack around December '05. This was my first "decent"(internal frame) pack, my other was old military surplus (ALICE). I took the pack hiking in the Sipsey Wilderness (Alabama) and the pack performed nicely. I almost opted for the Crestone 60, but decided on the 75. Good choice! The 75's extra space really made a difference when I noticed how heavily I packed (rain gear/cold weather gear) A few carabiners (hang stuff) and compression bags and you’re set with this pack. I’m satisfied.
Awesome Pack
I am very happy with my pack. I got a Gregory first, but then realized it didn't have the front access and switched to The North Face. The compression straps work great and the shoulder straps seemed very comfortable. I used mine for a 4 day trek in Glacier Park, Montana and also for a 3 week trip in NYC. Very versatile. Plus this site’s customer service is super helpful over the phone. Thanks!
Great for 10-day trip
I bought this backpack for a trip to Philmont in New Mexico and if there are any Boy Scouts reading this you know exactly what I am talking about. Let me say the backpack performed excellent in comfort under weight. It has room enough to carry everything you will need. The only draw back I would say is the Nalgene holders are a bit far back in placement, but with a D-ring the bottle can easily be retreived. I higly recommend this for anyone on a 7-10 day back country trip.
