The North Face Redpoint Jacket - Men's

Brand : The North Face
Item : TNF0207

The North Face Redpoint Jacket replaces fleece as an all-around insulating layer—it has far better wind & water resistance, layers without bunching, and is simply warmer. It also doesn't pill or collect lint and hair-we've seen that old fleece. The Redpoint's a silky smooth jacket that keeps you warmer than you might expect from just looking at it. Filled with the best synthetic insulation on the market, PrimaLoft, the Redpoint looks and feels fairly thin but keeps you amazingly warm. In fact, it's 30% lighter than fleece of comparable warmth. Stuff the entire jacket inside the left hand pocket, zip it up, and you're left with a bundle no bigger than a brown bag lunch that weighs only 17 ounces. Makes it easy to toss in your pack or suitcase. It's a 4-season jacket that you're going to LOVE. *Not Available for Shipment to Canada.

The North Face Redpoint Jacket - Men's

Love it
This is such a great insulation layer. I have fleeces galore but the smooth fabric and warmth of this coat really make it a better choice for extreme cold. It's cleverly designed with layering in mind, as evidenced by the snap-loops on the cuffs that make it an ideal replacement for the lame-o liner that came in my motorcycle jacket. There's really nothing else which is both this thin and this warm. I can't say enough good about it.

North Face Redpoint
This jacket lived up to everything it said it would. I stayed warm at ~0 F in Colorado with the addition of only a thermal and sweater as underlayers. The jacket was quite breathable and packable but the zippers can get stuck if you are not careful, especially with cold hands. Also, I found it to be waterproof even after testing it under a water faucet.

rain/wind/cold,no problem
I live in ga. just got this in time for 4 days of rain, 25 degree temps, and wind chills of 15 degrees. Got this on your rec. glad I did. This thing handles it all. I only wore a light short sleeve rugby jersey, was outside for 30-40 minutes at time and was dry and toasty every time. I keep getting rubber neckers checking this jacket out in town too. Zipped into my shell a lot smoother than the salathe I have, and getting in and out of them together is way easier. Can't wait to need to use them together (rate 12 if they make it w/ a hood, and it zips into my summit series shell. This is going to Co. w/ me every year. thanks for a great pick-up . X- mas week is going to be low 40's and mid 20's. I can't wait. Thanks for these reviews,it helps to get some feedback on products b-4 I buy online.

Redpoint jacket by The North Face
A jacket that is functional and stylish. I opted for the ash grey color which quite a neutral color. Napoleon pocket is a good idea, however, if your jacket is a firm fit across the chest anything in the pocket will increase the firmness. Side pockets are deep enough to warm your hands or carry quite large items) gloves, cell phone, wallet, GPS). Two waist tightener cords allow you to easily and effortlessly snatch in the jacket at the waist for a firmer fit. Length is adequate, however, if you have a very tall torso you may find the Redpoint too short at the waist. I’ve had no problems with the zipper mechanism on the pockets or front of the jacket. The arm length is quite good as is the available room beneath the arm for movement. The collar area is a little snug when the zipper is zipped to the top of its run. This maybe a problem for some who like to have their collars completely closed (personally I hate closed collars). The larger jacket had a more room in this area. I purchased the small and medium Repoint then selected the best fit. I found I was an in-between fit – as such the medium was bulky but with lots of room beneath the jacket while the small was a slightly firm fit. I decided on the small as it appeared to be warmer and the air didn’t push out of the jacket when my arms were folded. The arms were also a little shorter; the medium arms were a little too long. Check your size carefully and determine what you want to wear beneath the jacket as this will depict the size required. I find the size small a little constructive under the arms when wearing 4 layers (thermal, shirt, jumper and vest) for maximum protection, but perfect when wearing only 2-3 layers Having a jacket too large for your body type is not recommended as you will loose warmth quickly. The Redpoint is quite warm without being over warm. Ideally this jacket should be worn as an insulator jacket with a thermal, jumper, or vest for maximum warmth. I have found the water resistance excellent. I placed my arm under the shower for 5 minutes and the jacket maintained its bead and didn’t leak. Light/medium rain and snow is not a problem. The material used in the Redpoint is PrimaLoft. The main benefit of PrimaLoft verses down is that it is thinner than down and offers similar thermal characteristics. (down is a tad warmer). Other benefits is that PrimaLoft dries much more quickly than down and maintains its warmth in the wet. Down jackets can be very bulky in appearance. PrimaLoft jackets are not bulky. Abrasion resistance appears to be quite good, although the jacket is till new The Redpoint packs very small and is very light; packing the jacket into a backpack for travel should not cause any concern. There are many jackets similar to the Redpoint. Personally, I think they are all very similar to each other in terms of functionality. A point to remember is that insulator jackets should be worn with layering to achieve maximum warmth. If you think this jacket will keep you warm only wearing a T-shirt in sub zero temperatures you will be disappointed. Search for another type of jacket if you only want to wear a T-shirt!! I gave the jacket 4 out of 5. Why? The sizing was problematic without in-between sizes and the overall warmth of the jacket was not as good as I was anticipating.

Premium Versatility
Marvelously fits the greatest number of conditions you can experience. Windproof so you can wear it as an outer layer, thin and non-bulky so you can wear it underneath easily. Easily packable, lightweight, comfortable and good-looking. Smooth face helps with layering underneath or over. Warm enough to wear alone in the mid-20's yet won't overheat you when it's windy and 55F. If only one jacket will fit in your suitcase or pack, any season of the year, this should be the one. Look for the vest version too.
