Shoulder a heavy load and hike farther in the lightweight Salomon Revo GCS GTX Men's Hiking Boot. These boots utilize the Ground Control System to give you unparalleled support and stability over the most rugged terrain. GCS minimizes strain and injuries by adapting to uneven ground—laterally and vertically—so your foot doesn't have to. Together with 3D fit padding and Ortholite insoles, this system gives you exceptional support and comfort to help you go the distance. A TPU toe cap protects your feet and the Seamless upper cuts down on weight to help you conserve energy. If conditions turn sour, Gore-Tex keeps your feet dry while the Mountain Contagrip outsole ensures bomber traction. The Revo GCS GTX is Salomon's most burly boot designed for the most demanding hiker.

Salomon Revo GCS GTX Backpacking Boot - Men's
what can I say, but wow
I just wore my Revo's for the first time. I went on a five-miler to try them out, with a seven-day supply in my pack. Comfort, dry feet, support, everything about these boots is great. The GCS takes a little getting used to, feels like you're stepping into sand or mud even on hardpack, but it works great in the rough stuff. If they are ever discontinued I want to know, so I can buy three or four more pairs.
Soft and comfy
On a recent 20km day hike, I was convinced that these boots - right out of the box - were the most comfortable I had ever worn (I'm a traditional leather boot person). I had a fairly light pack (10lb), and only on sharp rocks could I feel the ground through the sole. They are incredibly lightweight (I even went for a couple of trail runs in them), and the heel construction works well, to a point. I wouldn't want to be humping a 30lb pack over a few days with these boots, but for day hikes they're great!
Walking on Air
A snug, warm, comfortable fit with no need to break in. All day comfort. The sole give you a confident grip on pavement, rock and dirt...nice shock absorption, smoothes out the rough spots, but you can still feel what's going on under your feet. My only problem is my toes jamming forward on the down slope. Overall a minor and fixable problem.
Revo GCS GTX Back packing Boot
This is the best boot I have ever used on a long hike. GCS is the best. But the seamless technology is not so high tech, mine came apart at the seams. After sixty five miles of the John Muir Trail. I think if Salomon would put the GCS and the same sole on a leather boot you would have the best boot ever made. I returned mine. Come on Salomon put this GCS on the a leather boot and I will buy it again. Fred
So Far So Good
I've only just begun to wear in the boots on normal expeditions about town - shopping and the like. Spent one long day (6 hours) wearing them with my kids at the Zürich zoo. They seem very good - comfortable, good fit, light, not too hot. One bother: they press on my ankle bones a bit if I strap them on tight. I'm hoping that that will improve with time as I wear them in better.
