Paha Que Power Shower
More Details?
This thing came with a rechargable battery. I think it needs a bit more detail about the whole re-charge & battery thing.... How many times can I charge it before the battery starts pooping out (they all do)? How long does it take to charge completely? How do I know when it's re-charged completely? How long will it run off one complete charge?
Great Investment
Once a year, on Memorial Day, my brother and I take a camping trip to a remote private lake in Michigan called Wade Lake. We grew up on this lake but the down side is there are no bathroom facilities nearby. Well, this year I purchased a Paha Que shower, outhouse, and portable toilet. It was a wonderful addition to our trip. We set it all up in less than 15min. Thanks for the suggestions. Rob S
Ok product, could be better
When I took this out of the box my first reaction was "HOW CHEESY." For the money I paid, I was expecting more than a blue bucket with a little pump glued inside. Here are the pros and cons. PRO: It's a nice, powerful pump and decent shower head so you will use less water to get wet and rinse off. This is its best feature, maybe worth the price, maybe not. You can charge the battery either in your car or in a wall socket, and the charge is good for 4-5 full showers. CONS: The bucket setup is glued in place, i.e. you can't use the bucket for anything else, nor can you remove the pump and use it in another manner, so if you travel light, this will be a bulky item indeed. The fill hole is SMALL! You can't dip this in the river to fill it. In fact, I called the company and asked if I could submerge the unit, and they said, "no." So you need a hose, or you need to be very patient at filling it from another bucket or collapsible water carrier. The "solar" bit is kind of misleading. It is JUST a blue plastic bucket. Okay, it will get warmish on a warm day, and warmer on a hot day, but why not a black bucket? I'd say the best bet is to fill it halfway with cold water and then pour in boiling water until you get the right temp. The battery is connected by wires...yikes... all exposed. Company says they are "water resistant". I would NOT let kids use this unsupervised. That said, I kept mine and will try to get the best use out of it. I may cut the fill hole bigger and use w/o the plug (can be done) and make sure the battery doesn't fall in there while I'm showering!
Solar Powered?
I purchased this as a gift for my father in-law, not only does the water never get warm, it’s not really solar powered. Putting a dark colored object in the sun to gather heat doesn't sound like being "solar powered" to me, maybe I assumed too much. Also, the description mentions a backup heater as though it came with one. It doesn't. Comes with a wall plug to charge battery. Other than all this, it sprays well and is easy to fill.
Poorly Made
The Power Shower is a disappointment. This product is extremely poorly made, particularly for the price you pay for it. Wires are exposed, plastic fittings do not fit together, and the battery will not hold a charge. It is sold as 'solar-powered', but it is not, other than sitting a blue (why not black?) bucket in the sun. The water does not get warm even in warm temperatures. Buyer Beware.
