MontBell America, Inc. Ultralight Thermawrap Pants

Brand : MontBell America, Inc.
Item : MTB0006

One of the lightest synthetic insulated pants around, the MontBell Ultralight Thermawrap Pants offers superb warmth at only 10oz (medium). Insulated with 50g of Exceloft, these pants not only retain their warmth when wet; their weight only increases by just 1% when completely soaked. However, with a DWR-coated 15d Ballistic Airlight nylon shell, you'd have to fall in the river to get the insulation of these pants wet. Thanks to full-side zips (ankle-to-hip), the Ultralight Thermawraps are easy to put on over all of your other layers. Made for ice and alpine climbing, the Ultralight pants add some much-needed warmth to your fast-and-light ascent.

MontBell America, Inc. Ultralight Thermawrap Pants

Ultralight, compressible and warm mid-layer
I was considering the Patagonia Micro-Puff pants, but decided to try these instead because they are much lighter and cut trimmer so can be used as a mid-layer. I just returned from a week-long climbing trip in freezing temps, and these pants performed unbelievably well, packing small and light to fit in my summit pack, layering well under shell pants as well as layering over pants when needed at a cold belay. The cut of the legs is long enough to fit my 33-inch inseam length, yet trim-fitting. The waistband is comfortable and low-profile. The side zips are very low-profile, and the whole package is very attractive - the photos on the web just don't do justice to how good these pants look. Plus, these pants are very warm and breath very well even without using the side zips for ventilation. These pants have my highest recommendation, particularly if you do lightweight backpacking or alpine climbing, where the weight-to-performance ratio is of highest importance.

Ultralight Thermawraps Pants
Great pants, super light. However, I went with the down version because the Thermawraps had a rivet on the bottom that may hurt on my shin if it gets between it and my boots. Dan

You never find better insulation
Great pants: feather light, fit well, very warm, highly breathable and long sleeves (which is very important for me, I hate pants that cut like shorts) makes it perfect as a mid layer for sport activities in subzero temperature.
