The Mountain Hardwear Men's Epic Jacket is a ridiculously lightweight outer shell with the technical features to see you through almost any condition. Mountain Hardwear's Ark Ripstop face fabric and articulated sleeves combine to produce a jacket that is super durable while feeling much more flexible than most waterproof pieces. This superlight backcountry jacket features a Conduit Silk laminate for 15K waterproofing and incredible breathability. The Epic has one-handed hem and hood adjustment cords and laminated cuff tabs to help protect you from the elements. Once you're moving and warming up, extra-long pitzips help regulate your temperature.

Mountain Hardwear Epic Jacket - Men's
Pretty Extraordinary!
For price, features, and performance, you can't go wrong with the Epic. I was skeptical about the comfort of the interior material and about the waterproofness of the garment and, particularly, any breathability—but because of the weight and price I was willing to give it a try. It's been through two heavy downpours on three daytrips and is as breathable as any waterproof breathable fabric I've tried (and now, having tried Conduit, I think I've tried them all). The highest temps I've worn it have been in the mid 70s where, with pitzips, internal dampness was negligible in non-strenuous trail walking with pack. A great advantage, of course, is the weight and yet it doesn't lack many features. Not clammy like other 2-ply rainwear, either. Highly recommended!
Awesome jacket!
This jacket rocks. I basically lived in it during three days of constant rain. It breathed well and didn't even wet out. It is extremely light, compressible and durable. It looks pretty sweet too. I would definitely recommend this jacket for anyone looking for an inexpensive, completely waterproof/breathable jacket that won't make you go broke.

Mountain Hardwear Epic Jacket
This jacket is a replacement for a Precip by Marmot. So far I really like the Epic. It seems to be more durable than the Marmot yet breathable and waterproof. The color is snazzy too! (Shiraz/Yarn).
