Mountain Hardwear Maneuver Pant - Men's

Brand : Mountain Hardwear
Item : MHW0240

Perfect for alpine climbers, backcountry skiers and other winter enthusiasts, the Mountain Hardwear Men's Maneuver Softshell Pant is more breathable than hardshell pants and is completely waterproof. Fully seam taped, these pants also have waterproof zippers on all the pockets. The side zipper comes up from the bottom of the leg and stops just below the waist, eliminating pressure points created by zipper pulls at your waist. With a soft brushed lining, you can wear the Maneuver Pants alone when the weather is above freezing, so you won't overheat. When you're skiing powder or climbing knee-deep snow up a ridge, the built-in gaiters keep your boots from filling with snow. Covering a lot of ground in the mountains? These pants are for you.

Mountain Hardwear Maneuver Pant - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Maneuver Pants
Great concept, great features, good looking pants, but they don't fit! I have an athletic build with a 34 waist and 31 inseam. Of course, I have a "powerful" backside from mountaineering and postholing. These pants were so tight that I couldn't bend my legs or move. The large was too small and the XL was way to big. Neither had a good fit/cut for anyone with a normal climbing body. Sorry Mountain Hardwear, back to the drawing board.

Great softshell for BC touring & yo-yoing
First, let me start by saying that the fit is spot on. I don't know what the first reviewer with the "powerful backside" is talking about. I am a natural bodybuilder - I usually wear mediums and ordered the mediums in this pant. They fit great with room for a Patagonia 2 cap underneath. The construction is great. I would like the pants better with a suspender option but the belt loops work fine. I DO agree that the internal draw-chord is pretty-much useless. The finish hardware is of much higher quality than the Cloudveil pants. I had to return the Zero-G pants because the snap on the gaiter broke my very first time wearing them as I was walking from the car to the lift. The 3/4 water tight leg vent zipper works very well. Another great product from Mountain Hardwear.

Comfortable and lightweight
I've used these pants for skiing in various conditions and they are very nice. The softshell provides really nice wind protection and is very comfortable. The front pockets are really nice; I've had my cell phone as well as cash and other small things in there. The fit is snug but not tight. I normally wear a size large and these fit comfortably over a pair of heavyweight long underwear. Adding a 2nd base layer also will fit but it is snug at that point.

Great Pants
I bought the Maneuver Jacket and was so impressed it durability, comfort, fit, warmth and breathability, I had to get the pants. The pants are equally awesome. A snug fit which was comfortable and allowed for total freedom of movement. My one complaint is the "vents" are a zipper which opens up, with nothing between the opening and your inner layers. But overall, is the best pair of snow pants I have ever had.

Good, but could be improved
The pant is a very well worked out softshell cloth. But 2 improvements could be done: a) the "Belt loops at waist with interior drawcord" is not really usable and does affect fitting comfort b) at the interior of the back side a micro chamois layer would add warmth and comfort
