Julbo Typhoon Polarized Sunglasses
Italian Stallions
'For water addicts only' - "Italian Seahorses" just doesn't have the same ring, does it? While I've enjoyed using these out on the water (in which case the custom removable cord comes in handy), I have also put them to the test running on and off road. They aren’t the ultimate for aerobic (i.e. hot) activities; the close fit isn't meant to breathe heavily, but they are effective and versatile. Well placed nose and arm pads grip adequately without being too sticky. If you like the wraparound look, the Typhoon's smooooth style complements a high-quality “Made in Italy” pedigree. Seriously, these exude a solid, expensive character like few other sunglasses; most feel cheap and plasticky by comparison. I have both Silver and the matte Black (which I love with the brown lenses), and they both look and feel great. I love these glasses! NOTE: Although the Face Size recommendation says Medium to Large, these seem to fit medium and/or narrow faces best; the arms may pinch larger noggins.
Great Specs
I agree with previous review that these glasses fit my very small, very narrow head just right (I wear a 6 7/8 hat). Very well constructed, close fitting, stick to your face but the very best feature is the lenses. The "photochromic" lenses actually adjust to different lighting conditions. Indoors or under clouds they have a category 3 admittance rating, but step into the intense sunlight and the lenses actually darken to a category 4 rating. You don't notice it right away but after putting on other glasses, you come to expect such a feature. I've said for a long time that sunglasses should adopt transitioning lenses and Julbo answered the call.
Not the best
Going to be returning these glasses as they are equal to the cheaper glasses that I currently have. Not satisfied at all with the quality of these glasses, for the money I expected these glasses to far surpass the much cheaper polarized glasses that I already own but they did not.
