I'm a security contractor working in various 3rd world countries. I wear these pants all the time with all my gear including a leg holster, these pants keep me about 10 degrees cooler than regular pants and are holding up very well in harsh conditions. They double as shorts with the zipper above the knees which is nice also. Be aware, they are a longer in the legs though.

Every thing written about these pants is perfectly true. I have 5 pair and wouldn't change to another brand or style. Somewhat trim fit, zip off length is exactly correct, light weight and packable. Buy them, and you will want more.
Loved 'em
I bought the Silver Ridge Convertible pants to take on a cruise. They worked great. Light weight and I liked the fit. I've also used hiking and with the zip pockets they performed as expected. Definitely worth getting.
Silver Ridge Convertible Pant
These convertible parts are light weight and comfortable. I was concerned about not having zippers on the lower leg but found that not to be an issue; the legs are wide enough to accommodate hiking and tennis shoes. The back pockets load high so that when full, they don't feel like they are riding / bumping on the back on your legs. I wider nylon belt is preferred but that is easily resolved.
