Burton AK Continuum Fuse Jacket - Men's

Awesome Jacket
This jacket is super sick. I recently purchased it and drove up to New Hampshire to go snowboarding. The first day out it was 38F and pouring rain and while everyone else either ran for cover I stayed out boarding all day and didn't get any bit wet. The next day was 17F out and with a really light fleece on I stayed warm all day. Even when hiking in the park the jacket breathed very well, I never felt hot.

Small jacket, big protection
When I first got it, I was worried that I'd spent a lot of money on a basic wind cheater. Don't be fooled by the minimal design though, this jacket proved itself at the top of Sommet Des 3 vallees in France (3230m), at -18C in the howling wind and snow. If you're looking for a lightweight, hard as nails outer layer, this is it. All I need now is a nose made of the same material.

FUSE JACKET
I love my jacket! It’s lightweight and thin like a windbreaker. At first I thought it wasn't going to keep me warm. When I got out on the slopes I was perfectly fine. (Of course I had my Under Armor on underneath.) I would recommend this jacket to anyone!

Good features, let down by technology
I originally purchased the 2005 continuum fuse. The features, the fit, and the materials all worked really well. Unfortunately after only a few weeks of use the jacket started falling apart. Since the whole jacket is welded and practically void of stitches the edges of the fabric are a lot more exposed than on a sewn jacket. This led to lots of fraying, with actual holes appearing in the armpits. That, along with a few other problems, led to me contacting Burton for a replacement. Burton replaced the jacket with the 2006 model without hassle (kudos to burton for good customer service). Now, a few weeks of use later, the 2006 model has suffered the same fate. Right now I'm in the midst of getting a replacement for it too. This time i sure as h*ll won't be going for a stitchless design. AK Gore here i come.. To sum it up, a great jacket with new tech which doesn't work in practice.
