With two super bright LED's and a feather-weight adjustable headband, this lamp fits over a helmet, beanie, or hat. When placed in a shirt pocket or chalk bag, you'll forget you have it with you; however, once you see the Ion in action, you'll never leave home without it. Sounds Good on paper- Buy a Tiki Plus
I am a fast packer. I need light bright and afordable. Batteries are $6. The lamp is not bright enough for trail running. Really average battery life. Do the math. Pay $10. (or two batteries) Buy a Tiki Plus (The extra two ounces wount kill you!)


Black Diamond Ion Headlamp
This is a good little headlamp. Quite bright enough for night hiking on a clearly visible trail, though I wouldn't want to use it off trail. At about one ounce it feels weightless on your head. The tiny six volt battery is not widely available though. The salesman at my local Radio Shack was able to find one in stock after a bit of digging, but I've not found them in stock anywhere else. Carry a spare with you if you plan on being out more than a few days! The bright LEDs are not shaded from the eyes and cause some glare.


What are you talking about?
I am the owner of 4 headlights now. I got them in this order cheapo Wal-Mart, Black Diamond Moonlight, Black Diamond Gemini, and now this little gem. The Wal-Mart light broke. The moonlight is not too heavy but the light output is less than the ion after a year's worth of use on the batteries. The Gemini is just too bulky for trail use but great for around the house type of work. I like the ion most because you can take it anywhere. I had it in the pocket of my jeans and went out grocery shopping and completely forgot I even had it in my pocket. It is so tiny and weighs nothing. This will replace my moonlight as my favorite headlamp. PS my girlfriend wears this on the top of her head to keep her hair out of her face, I am going to have to get one for her now too.


Good little headlamp
The things that stand out the most to me about this headlamp are its size, weight, and brightness. It weighs next to nothing and is incredibly bright for its size. I have used this for trail running a couple times and it does a fairly good job. The unit is fairly big compared to the headband; when you're running it bounces up and down making it somewhat hard to see. The battery life on this is also short.


Everyone should have one of these in their First Aid Kit
While not the brightest light in the world, for summer camping and/or emergency use it gets the job done. In the summer, the only time I ever need my headlamp is for late night calls of nature so this is perfect. Headlamp can be tilted up, down or straight ahead to illuminate whatever you need with its two super-bright LEDs. Extremely tiny and ultra lightweight, I keep it in my first aid kit with a safety pin so I don't lose it! I left it in my pocket and washed it in the washing machine and it still works perfectly.
