Arc'teryx Easyrider Jacket - Men's

What you are looking for...
Warm, warmer, Easyrider. The fleece jacket you need with cold weather conditions. Just some points: 1. The cut is rather big. So if you order XXL you have to be a really big guy. I had to give mine to the tailor and he took away 17 to 20 cm around the belly - and I am 1,85m and 95kg! 2. The jacket is definitely not stretchy. Do not think it’s like the Gamma Powershield material. 3. Not useable as a mid layer, as long as you are not at the North Pole. Much too warm. Otherwise a great jacket, I really love it. I haven’t seen something like it from other companies; again Arcteryx got the thing right.

Good jacket, high price
I've owned this jacket for 3 years now. It is an excellent choice for wearing at camp on cool evenings after a hard day's athletic activity. One minor complaint: the fabric on my jacket started to "bubble" after several months. In contrast to what is written in one other review, the jacket isn't waterproof.

Skiing and Boarding softshell?
This is a great technical jacket with the usual cool Arcteryx details, but has several short comings as a riding softshell... I found cold air creeping up my lower back due to the waist cut while riding the chair. Falling snow also channeled down the open neck which was annoying. As a mid-layer, during more severe conditions with an XCR hardshell, I found myself overheating badly during times of heavy exertion - probably due to the thick fleece layer. As a day-to-day option, I also found the Easyrider not so easy to get on and off, as the elasticized cuffs are very tight and the high-loft fleece tends to bind on long sleeve shirts. I could not get the waist adjusters in the pockets to work well either. Nonetheless, this jacket probably serves it purpose well for other demands. It is also warm, wind and snow resistant but I’ll try another softshell for boarding... maybe the Sidewinder Comp Hoody.

Toasty
The Easyrider is toasty warm. Arcteryx makes some great products, and this is no exception. It's good as an outer layer, but I think best under a shell as it's not completely windproof. I sail for a living, and it's great on the boat. I just got back from a snowboarding trip to Austria and I was a champ in the cold. Don't put too much under it though as it heats up fast.

Solid piece
This is a solid jacket if you already own 1-2 other softshells that are truly "backcountry" practical. This jacket would be too warm for any climb if the temperature was above 0! The high loft fleece is extremely warm but the jacket itself is more of an 'around town' jacket than a true outdoor piece. Also, the neck is wide enough for me to fit 2 of my necks inside! Also, if you don't own 5+ jackets already I'd take the money you were going to spend on this and check out a good down jacket. It'll pack down more, weigh less, and provide just as much waterproofing/wind resistance as this jacket and you'll be able to get the most expensive down jacket on the planet for the same price ($289)! But, if you're a logo fiend, than go with Arcteryx, the bird is priceless.
